We Interrupt This Program.....

To bring you breaking news.

Five years ago today I started this do-nothing blog of mine.

I've written some posts that were really good, in my opinion.  Maybe five or so. Averaging one a year.  So so. Can't say I've really learned anything. And I don't have a multitude of readers, but I suppose that wasn't my intent to begin with.

What I can say is I feel like I've "met" some really good people through this self-absorbed medium.  Only once have I "gotten burned" in that the little jerk just invented everything about his blog and life. Why someone would expend so much energy doing that is beyond me.  What I find even more annoying are those people who create multiple persona online and then comment on blogs (not mine). Sometimes they even end up arguing with themselves or forget which persona they are logged in under and out themselves. Only Sally Fields made a good Sybil. These people are just ignorant.

I'm working on Part Two of the story below. There is much to tell, so I'm struggling with not getting bogged down in the details. Hopefully I can finish it before we leave for a cruise this coming Sunday.

Five years ago I would have never believed we would have escaped the winter this year, FINALLY.

Loving it down here.

So I have nothing profound today, which isn't much different that other posts.  We went to an outlet mall to get a few things for the cruise today.  It just reminded me of why I hate to shop.

On the way home Bob stopped at Micky D's to grab a quick hamburger. He paid at the first window and then drove up to the second. The girl there was holding a sack (of course) but then asked, "Is this yours?"  Considering we didn't know for sure what was in the sack, it was kinda a hard question to answer.

That was not quite as odd as when I pulled up to the Taco Bell drive through in Greenwood years ago and ordered over the little speaker thingy. Then the guy asked me, "Is this to go?"

I did not realize it until reading this post and checking on mine that my last post was my 2,000 post. It started on Aug 20, 2006. Who would have thunk it? And I always enjoy reading your stuff. Keep it up.

I started blogging in 1995 using dial-up. I met some great broads in a chat room who honestly helped me decide to get a divorce. Good women, but you can't find nice chat rooms now.

Congrats. There are not many of us who have blogged a long time left. Keep up the good work. I need something to read!

Me too. Not only do I like coming here and reading your stuff, but you have a lot of links to other good blogs that I've started reading.

Regarding people who write blogs using ten different personalities:

My experience was horrid. This woman represented herself as too many extraordinary success stories she even stumbled over herself in her comments at other blogs.

Without her, life as we know it would have been horrid. She saved so many lives, situations, etc.

How could she pull this off? During a drunken phone call, she admitted to keeping FILES on her life, and FILES on the blogs she followed. Then everyone got a phone call, email, etc., as she BONDED them to her through their common lives.

For one woman with an autistic child, she even presented herself as being autistic!!!

Why? Whenever this woman has a need, she merely has to reach out and tap one of her "friend's" shoulders, and it's in the mail for her.

Now I've noticed she's succeeded in gathering some pretty rich readers. Oh oh. I can hear the planes landing at her place now, bringing in resources.

Yeah. So I obviously didn't get anything done before we left. Sitting at the St. Thomas port right now.

Thanks for the nice words guys. You are all the fun part of hosting this little party here.

Be back soon.

Rita,
I cannot figure out why I have never read your blog before. Okay, maybe I have. So, if I am not following you, I will. Thanks for the good information on chicken boiling. I bet you can find chicken feet where you are...lol. Oh, I was an intended victim of the person lotta joy talks about.

Did you have a great time? I hope so! Just realized the date of your post when I saw "Sitting in St Thomas port!"

I'm happy you're blogging and will be by more often; am not working full time anymore but will be busy at the same place helping them out.

All the best! Z

PP: thanks for coming by. Not many travel this way, but I appreciate those who do. ;)

Z: We did have a good time. Hoping to write a post about it. Probably won't do a Holland America again. The crowd is well over 70 and there is very little on board activity. The dining room food was well below average. Disgusting limp shrimp cocktail I sent back.

We hadn't been on a cruise in 10 years. Bob actually said we needed to go somewhere by ourselves every year.

It sure was a lot easier coming "home" since we are still "wintering" in Fort Myers.
