Our Fort Myers neighbor called and said our community was putting down sandbags and putting up the hurricane shutters.
Not to worry, our shutters are safe.....tucked away in the corner of the garage.
Stud and I learned the hard way that having two homes (one in the Ohio Valley Tornado Alley, and one in hurricane hell) was a bad idea for nervous people.
I guess you can batten down the hatches, but I don't think (according to the weather reports) it will be too bad for you guys. But knowing the weather reporters and how accurate the are, you will probably be snowed in.
It's late August, which is part of the two months of the year that require tremendous amounts of hand wringing and tooth gnashing. It's when the attractive weather people fret, predict and promote a general feeling of doom.
Apparently they have called for a mandatory evacuation of Fort Myers Beach. We're about four miles off the beach. Sounds like it may be storms surges of 5 to 7 feet.
Winds predicted at only 75 mph winds. As long as we don't have any spin off tornadoes we should be good. Hope the storm surges don't wipe out the just restored beach.
Rita, your post cracked me up, too >>'our shutters are safe' :-)
But this comment at my place REALLY made me laugh:"Rita said... Beamish, I swear you have been invaded by the brain snatchers. "
He has REALLY lost it...man!! He was such a good guy but the "i'm the only conservative left in America and nobody can out Conservative ME" thing is getting REAL OLD!! !!

Stay safe Dana. Are the whackos bothering you guys again?

Hmmmm, I'm not worried about MY property in Florida.
Well Ed, you never know, that track might just swing around and come up and pick up steam over the Great Lakes. :D
Jess, sounds just like election time.
I'm watching your area on the tv news. Not looking too bad right now.
But the big headlines is to keep the incoming nrc safe. To hell with the rest of us.
If Obama was coming, we'd have to move Florida for him.
I think Fort Myers will be fine. Certainly better than watching Charlie barreling towards us.
