Because I Said I Would

Anyone else amazed at this young man's courage to stand up to his mistakes?

I admire his facing up to his mistake and taking responsibility. But the sinister side of me also wonders if this is a ploy to get a lesser sentence.

A lot of commentors at that video feel like coffeypot.
Could be.
But what a gamble.
I'll take Pollyanna for 600 Alex.
I think he's genuine.

They had a follow up with the county on TV last night. The prosecutor was waiting on the toxicology reports and nothing had yet been filed on him. He said he was going to go ahead and file the charges now after seeing the video.

I think too many people drive drunk without thinking of the consequences, I believe this young man found out the horrible reality the hard way and is genuinely remorseful.

Can you imagine the guilt of knowing you killed someone? Most people hide behind their lawyers advice. This kid didn't.

It's called throwing yourself on the mercy of the court. Yes, morally this guy is doing the right thing by taking full responsibility for his actions. But he's also going to have to accept and live with the consequences.

Yep to Diamond Dave. Being sorry got us out of a lot of whoopins' when we were kids, but adults have to take their licks, as he now knows. It's awful to realize it's too late to rethink your actions.

I think it took a lot of guts to record that in the hopes others don't make the same mistake.

I hope others who see it think of him when they want to get into their car after drinking.
