Beans Don't Burn On The Grill

"Took a whole lot of tryin'.
Just to get up that hill."

Sounds like George Jefferson was an evil capitalist.

Now imagine if someone told Mr. Jefferson,

"Look, if you've been successful, you didn't get there on your own. You didn't get there on your own.  I'm always struck by people who think, 'Well, it must be because I was just so smart.' There are a lot of smart people out there. 'It must be because I worked harder than everybody else.' Let me tell you something: There are a whole bunch of hardworking people out there. If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help."

I applaud you George.  You DID get there on your own and you ARE entitled to enjoy that DEluxe apartment in the sky.

"Now we're up in the big leagues,
Gettin' our turn at bat.
As long as we live, it's you and me baby,
There ain't nothin wrong with that."

No there is NOTHIN' wrong with that.

God love ya George.

(Dang it.  Andrea Tantaros beat me to this.  I wrote this the other night when Sherman Helmsley passed away and I didn't publish it.  Tonight's One More Thing on The Five included the theme song and talking about George being a capitalist.  I could have claimed she stole my idea if I had only published it first.)

George (Sherman) was a hell of a lot smarter than Barack Husane O'Boy.

Oh yeah? Than why wasn't HE president?
Then again, why is Obama?

He wasn't president because, God rest his soul, he was arrested for some weird stuff a few times, but I can't find it in Google (which is REALLY weird, but it's nice they didn't mention that in his obits)

I loved George Jefferson and all he stood for!

Rita, I have a VERY rich uncle whose house is up in the hills of Bel Air and Mr. Z and I used to sing "Movin' on UP" every time we drove up there :-) (and down to reality!)

That's hilarious. Not about Hemlsey, but about your uncle's place.
