Here's your chance.
Our state rarely makes much of a difference in decided who ACTUALLY will run for President, but here's your chance with the current field.
Rank them and indicate what you find good about them and what you do not like. Then rank your winner against Obama.
And lastly. Add in someone in the field that decided not to run that you think would have been the PERFECT person to run and win.
I'll list in alphabetical order just in case someone might not be paying attention to the real candidates.
Newt Gingrich
Jon Huntsman
Ron Paul
Rick Perry
Mitt Romney
Rick Santorum
And then would (if they could) win against Obama.
Now, who would have been your ideal candidate. (I mean OTHER than me, of course.)

I'm an independent voter living in New Hampshire, which is one of the few states where independent voters get to vote in the primaries...
Here's the problem as I see it for the Republican party: thinking ahead, if they find someone who can beat Obama in 2012, that person will be running as the incumbent in 2016. And there's a good chance he'll be running against Hillary C in 2016, so whoever they pick now will need to be good enough not only to beat Obama in 2012, but also Hillary in 2016. Unfortunately, I don't think they have a candidate who is strong enough to do that (her inexplicable popularity has always baffled me).
So, given that Hillary scares me WAY more than Obama, I think the best thing for the Republicans to do is let Obama win this one (give him a chance to clean up his own mess?), and spend the next four years searching for a really REALLY good candidate for 2016.
Or put Rita on the ballot. I'd vote for you in a heartbeat.
I can live with Newt, Ron or Mitt. But NEVER Ron Paul. That fucker is dangerous and his followers are cooks, too. In all the elections I have worked, the only problems we have ever had at the precincts were from the Ron Paul supporters.
Hey Jeff: I've been wondering how you and your family are doing. Keeping you all in my prayers.
You're counting out my boy in 2016 if Obama is reelected. I'd place my bets on Mike Pence, who would by then be Indiana's governor. There was a big call for him to run this time around, but I think he needed to get the governor experience first.
And I have to agree with CoffeyPot here. Ron Paul scares me like no other. I think he's only doing well because he's talking conservative on domestic issues, but his foreign policy will leave me sitting at home if he gets the nomination.
Still hate it that Mitch Daniels didn't run, but given that they would tear his family to shreds with his wife's past, I can understand why he didn't.
I saw her at a memorial service they televised when the state fair stage collapsed and I'm not sure she wouldn't just kill his chances. She appeared extremely cold and even watching them sit together I couldn't imagine her as First Lady. Not the type. And during the entire event you could actually feel a conflict between them. I was watching them when even Bob said, "There's something really wrong there." Maybe she's getting ready to run off again.
Rita: My receipt calls for 3 tsp of yeast for my big batch, that is a 7 cup of flour batch. I get 4 nice loaves from it. Are you just using the sourdough starter for your rise? Also I found that you don't want to let them over rise before baking as then they tend to not rise any more and aren't as nice. Also make slices in the top to allow for the expansion. Good luck. Let me know. DC
I left this on my blog for you but in case you miss it I will leave it here for you Hope it makes sense! dc
Thx dc. I did only use the starter, didn't add yeast to make the actual bread. I didn't ever see a recipe that added the yeast along with the starter.
I need to create a starter again. I finally threw out the last batch because I forget to feed it when it was in my fridge too long.
Is this bunch of losers the very best we have? Unfortunately these republican candidates make me amused at how stupid people can actually be.
Maybe we SHOULD bring in Sarah Palin!
'Fraid so Jar. The smart ones knew better than to run. I can't say I blame them, the way we elect Presidents now is a circus. Frankly I don't know why anyone in their right mind would want the job.
Following instructions like a good automaton here:
Newt/pro: Smart as a whip. Would hand Bozo his scrawny half-black ass in a debate.
Con: Sometimes engages pie-hole before engaging (large) brain. Contradicts self, and this latest anti-capitalist crap dooms him. He's unelectable.
Huntsman: Jon who? 'Nuf said.
Ron Paul/pro: The only guy looking realistically at our economic future.
Con: His late statements re-Iran border on insanity.
Unelectable.
Rick Perry/pro: Was one of my early hopes due to his successful running of the TX economy.
Con: Committed suicide in the debates. His late anti-Romney/anti-capitalist teaming with Newt is shameful.
Unelectable.
Romney/pro: He has a nice looking wife, and if we have to look at Flotus for several years it would be nice if she didn't look like a wookie and dress like she had a Goodwill store right next door.
Con: RomneyCare. And the fact he's another rich Northeasterner who knows nothin' about how the rest of us survive political idiots.
Will win for the same reason Obama won the last time- He's the media's choice. Can he beat Bozo?
That depends entirely on whether the economy continues to tank as I think it will.
He MAY have a cakewalk.
Santorum/Pro: Christian and willing to stand by principle.
Con: Christian and stupid enough to make abortion an issue, even though the country is split RIGHT DOWN THE MIDDLE (unfortunately) on the subject and anyone who takes a strong stance on it is doomed from the outset.
Unelectable.
My dream?
LTC West with Herman Cain as his running mate. (Wouldn't blacks have gone berserk?!!)
But they'd have been unelectable. West is too much a "man's man".
For folks like Jeff and others-
We have to pray harder than we have prayed in eons that Jeff's forecast is wrong because of two words- Supreme Court.
If Obama is elected he'll install at least one, and maybe three justices.
And if he does? Bye-bye Republic.
Hello "civil" war.
Newt lost his last brain cell a long time ago. Paul scares the bejeezus out of me.
We need someone who has actually tried to live on social security, needed a doctor and had to take whoever was available at the free clinic because they had no health insurance.
Since that's never going to happen, I'm ready to let the air out of all the bus tires in America so there's no free 'pick up and delivery' on election day.
Newt recovers that brain cell here.
The one thing on which most can agree?
NONE of these candidates could possibly do worse than the present occupant of the W.H.. (Well, maybe Ron Paul.)
I don't think Newt is unelectable. But then again, I am a hopeless optimist. I think he would smash Obama in a debate of any kind.
I like Santorum, but I bet he wouldn't be able to beat Obama.
If anyone had a hint that Ron Paul was not some crazed idiot, they only had to hear him talk about comparing Osama Bin Laden to a Chinese dissident.
I seriously doubt that Romney can beat Obama. He's just a big turnoff and most people won't even bother voting.
Was it really that hard to find a good conservative candidate? Apparently it was.
What happened to "conservative" Herman Cain?
Mitch Daniels?
My past prohibits a bid for election, even to Dogcatcher.
Our media totally ignores the history of people like Obama. We know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about his past. (Search for Vera Baker.)
Until this changes, we are totally screwed.
Sadly, Mitch Daniels issue wasn't "his" issue. Years ago his wife left him for another man and HE stayed and took care of his young daughters. He took her back and he made it clear that he wanted to run, but it would be a family decision.
I'm sure they did not want to face having their family laundry dug out for all to criticize.
He definitely has the passion to run, but he chose family over running for president.
I really liked Cain, but it became apparent they were going to drag out every female they could.
But he's not going away, that's for sure. Hopefully he can pull in the conservatives to keep the R's in line.
I have to admit, I'm curious Dana...
