Apparently I've been missed. Well, at least Jess missed me. Just visiting relatives and finishing taxes.
So now I have a quiz. It's a theory and you will all be my test subjects.
Ready?
Here goes.
Below is a picture of the dial on the front of my stove. Not from the top, the front.
Now. Picture yourself standing in front of the stove and answer this question.
Which burner does this control? Does it control the one closest to you or the one farthest from you?
Take a stand.
I want to see if my theory holds.

Front right
Closest.
Do I have to show my work?
Looks like a depiction of the Van Allen Belt to me.
front right
Right rear. Your stove is wired wrong
Closest to you?
Closest...front right. Either that, or Earth's orbit is changing.
Times up.
Turn over your papers and pass them to the person in front of you.
Dang it. I think the angle of the picture was misleading. When I'm standing over the stove, I see the dot as the farthest from me, so I think it's the rear.
I have this particular burner down pat because it's the largest one on my right front and use all the time.
I should have taken a picture from a standing position on the other side of the stove because EVERY time I use it I have to look at this one to figure out the front versus the rear.
Yes, it's the right FRONT.
Everytime I go to use the left front, I curse the MAN that designed this design. Because I'm just SURE it's a man that sees that as a front burner.
But the comments show that my theory is incorrect.
The interesting thing is that my brother CnC, guessed the rear also, which shows it must be a genetic malfunction in our family.
However I'd still like the designer to pay for the Tupperware cannister that melted when I turned on the front burner, not the rear.
Would it have been so hard to put the words "front" and "rear" so it would be easy to 'cipher?
Yes, genetic mutation. It could not be more clear which burner was indicated. For shame blaming it on the picture angle.
But the big burner on the front right -- that is a strange set up. Every stove I have owned has the big burners on thefront left and back right.
Maybe that is why you get confused -- it is no tthe indicator is misleading, the burners are wrong.
In a strange way tha tmakes you right...
My vintage-2002 Kenmore has the larger burners at front right and back left.
Knobs: fronts to the outside, rears inside.
I'm going with Joe here. In a weird way, I'm right. Since I cook a lot, I maintain I'm right, but that's more from a position of arrogance than one of being right.
BUT, I think I have a solution. I shall hire an artistic type person and have them paint an R or a L inside the white dots and my problem's solved.
Man, I thought at least one of you loyal readers would have sided with me on this one.
I'll probably boo-hoo all night long, like I was back in junior high.
Or maybe I'll just go to sleep.
I'll let you know in the morning.
