I few years back we joined one of those DVD clubs. We don't buy alot, just enough to get the 5 or 6 for a penny and then enough to fulfull the obligation and then quit.
Anyway, I had ordered several movies. One that got good reviews and had one of the most amazing kid actors and was recommended by my sister.
I put the DVD in and Bob asks, "What kind of movie is this?"
I said, "I don't know, I think it's one of those 'feel good' movies."
It caught our interest right away.
Excellent movie.
But.
Feel good?
By the end I was literally sobbing out loud like a little girl.
One of best movies ever, but Pay It Forward is NOT a feel good movie. But then again, I have to admit, I'm a sucker for a movie that makes me cry.
Wait. I have to stop now. It's on TV now and I need to find a heavy duty Kleenex.

I have not yet seen it, but I've heard "Marley and Me" is another that requires a tissue box within arms length.
I too liked "Pay It Forward".
Oh, so you like chick flicks too?
Don't tell C&C, but Bob actually likes chick flicks. Of course I don't call them that when we watch one. One of his favorites is "Something's Gotta Give."
See, I think C&C claims he doesn't like them because when we were younger, his "eyes would bother him" when we watched any sad movies.
Since he was so mean to me as a kid, I kinda delighted in watching him cry like a little girl, even if it was only over some TV show.
Ole Yeller?
Lassie Come Home?
Anyone that doesn't cry by the end of those need not apply for membership in the "Friends of Greybeard" club!
We watched "Gran Torino" a while back and I had "trouble with my eyes" at the end of that too. Just because a movie brings a tear does not make it a "chick flick" obviously.
There are good movies, and there are bad movies.
I'll watch and enjoy any good one. I bet C&C and me have MUCH in common.
"Pay It Forward" was a great movie except for the last 15 minutes, which I thought were totally unnecessary. It's kinda like they tacked that on just for shock value or something - it added nothing to the plot, and left you feeling sad instead of warm and fuzzy.
But the concept of "Pay It Forward" is something that I hold very close to my heart (warning: future post on that topic coming soon to my blog...)
I don't know if it's officially a chick movie or not, but City Of Angels is one I watch anytime it's on, Pay if Forward is really good, but it is a tear jerker at the the end. Seem like the older I get the softer I get when it comes to the tear ducts.
The most blubbering I do comes from watching Band Of Brothers, They have interview with the actual hero's who are protrayed in the series. It's not till the last when you find out who is who, When Major Winters talks at the very end, Im done for, and its all true stories.
Thanks for the warning, C-
I finally have all 10 episodes Tivo'd and we're gonna watch a couple of them per night while my son is home for a week.
I'll pay closer attention to Lt/Cpt/Major Winters because of your hint.
I have the DVD set GB, but I still stop whatever I'm doing and watch if I catch it replaying on History channel or whatever, Hard to imagine how 2 hollywood lefties produced such an amazing project. Let me know what you think of the series when you get thru it.
