The recent ad (paid for by Luger)settled me. The ad claims Mourdoch "sued to shut down Chrysler". That is an outright lie.

The State of Indiana sued as a secured creditor in the Chrysler bankruptcy case. It was not to shut down Chrysler, but rather over Obama's giving Chrysler's assets to the UAW and Fiat instead of secured creditors. It was about recovering taxpayer monies, not shutting down Chrysler.

Another career politician.

As I've aged, I've developed an attitude that anyone that's been in Washington D.C. for any length of time is corrupted.

At the least, there is an unrealistic environmnet to gauge the health of the rest of the country. Gauranteed money from taxpayers creates a false economy that will never change until these same taxpayers appear at the gate with pitchforks and buckets of tar.

At the worst, unbridled power creates individuals that allow their greed to determine all decisions, regardless of the cost or outcome.

Good riddance to your Senator. May his replacement honor his constituents.

But, but...Peggy Noonan wants him back....

Joe: I lost a considerable amount of respect for Lugar because of the absolute lies about Mourdock. I was leaning toward voting against Lugar but the ads convinced me to vote Mourdock.

And you're right Jess. There could be no way for someone who has lived in the D.C. cesspool for 36 years to understand reality anymore. No different than the pampered Hollywood celebrities.

Vi: Noonan probably believes "us hicks" just need people like her to "educate" us who to vote for.

While I know it's time for Mr. Lugar to go, for a myriad of reasons, there is one thing that troubles me about selecting Mr. Mourdock as the Republican candidate - the likelihood that Joe Donnelly will win the election and give another Democrat seat back to the Senate. That, my friends, will be worse than having Dick Lugar remain in office.

I was a bit worried about that too Babs when I was listening to the local political show and the D rep was saying that. But the more I read the less likely I thought it was. Especially since Mourdock won by such a large margin. I don't know what you're hearing up your way but I know a lot of Obama voters that will not vote for him again. I don't believe there will be many independents in Indiana that want this massive debt to continue and that means not electing Democrats. Especially ones that used to be in the House.
